What is the difference between onboarding and switching?#
Onboarding is when a customer applies for, and is approved for both a OnePay deposit account and a Builder Card at the same time.
Switching is when existing customers who already have a OnePay deposit account with a debit card apply for a Builder Card.
For step-by-step instructions, see How do I switch to a Builder Card?
How do I switch to a Builder Card?#
Builder Card may be available to existing OnePay deposit customers to switch to in the app.
To check if you have the option to switch to Builder Card:
Open the OnePay app.
Go to the Home tab.
If you see a Builder Card banner, select it.
Tap Switch now and follow the on-screen prompts.
If you don’t see the option to switch, Builder Card may not be available for your account at this time. Eligibility can change, so you can check the Home tab again later.
What are the eligibility requirements for a Builder Card, and why might I be denied?#
To be eligible for Builder Card, we must be able to verify your identity. You must also:
Be at least 18 years old (21 if you live in Mississippi)
Not have an active credit freeze
No credit history is required to apply. However, your previous account history with OnePay may affect your eligibility.
If your application was not approved, you’ll receive an email explaining the reason. If you haven’t received it, contact us or type “Agent” in chat and we can resend it.
If your credit was frozen when you applied, you can contact the credit bureaus to remove the freeze and then submit a new application after it has been lifted.
After I switch to Builder Card, can I still use my OnePay Debit Card?#
Your physical OnePay Debit Card will continue to work until your Builder Card is activated.
Once your new Builder Card is activated, your physical OnePay Debit Card will be terminated and no longer available for use. You can destroy your previous OnePay Debit Card; it cannot be used again in the future. You will also be issued a new virtual debit card for use where credit cards are not accepted.
Are there any fees for replacing my Builder Card with a OnePay Debit Card?#
No, there are no fees charged when you replace your Builder Card with a OnePay Debit Card. For more information about rates and fees associated with your OnePay deposit account, click here. Also, see your Builder Card Credit Card Agreement for details about a card replacement fee.
If you would like to replace your Builder Card with a OnePay Debit Card, please contact Customer Service or say Agent in chat to be connected to a OnePay Specialist.
