What is OnePay Money Companion?#

The OnePay Money Companion (OPMC) is an AI-powered chatbot designed to help you better understand and manage your money. You can ask questions about credit, saving, budgeting, and other financial topics. AI can make mistakes, so it is important to remember that the information it provides is for educational purposes only; it’s not licensed professional advice. If you need personalized investment, legal, debt relief, or tax guidance, we recommend consulting a qualified professional.

How do I get OnePay Money Companion?#

OnePay Money Companion is only available to select customers at this time.  We are working to roll this feature out to all OnePay customers soon.

How do I use OnePay Money Companion (OPMC)?#

  • Open OPMC in the middle of the navigation bar at the bottom of the OnePay app.

  • Read through the Terms and Conditions and accept by tapping Let's Go

  • Submit your financial question in the "Ask me anything" section, and your Money Companion will provide an answer.

It’s important to note that this OPMC chatbot uses artificial intelligence. While it’s a powerful tool, AI can make mistakes. The information it provides is for educational purposes only—it’s not licensed professional advice. If you need personalized investment, legal, debt relief, or tax guidance, we recommend consulting a qualified professional.

Can OnePay Money Companion help me with my OnePay account?#

OPMC is intended for educational purposes and is not meant for account-specific assistance for OnePay accounts or OnePay's other products or promotions. For assistance with your OnePay account or other OnePay product needs, please contact Customer Service or chat with us by tapping on your profile in the top right corner of the OnePay app and selecting “Help”.

Can I view my previous conversations with OnePay Money Companion?#

  • Open OPMC in the middle of the navigation bar at the bottom of the OnePay app.

  • Select the clock icon in the top right corner

  • Scroll to select the day and the conversation you want to view

  • You can also search for keywords from a previous conversation or favorite a conversation for easier access.

Where does OnePay Money Companion get information from?#

OnePay Money Companion can draw on three types of sources: (1) the AI model’s general knowledge; (2) OnePay materials, such as Help Center content, product documentation, policies, and release notes; and (3) user account context from OnePay systems (like balances or recent transactions).

OnePay Money Companion uses Plaid to let you connect your external accounts. By linking your external accounts, the OnePay Money Companion chatbot can give you better insights into your financial activity. Linking your bank account is optional and you can disconnect a linked external account at any time by going to Profile > Account > Linked accounts from your OnePay app.

It’s important to know that this feature is powered by artificial intelligence. While it can be very helpful, AI can make mistakes. The information provided is for educational purposes only—it’s not licensed financial advice.

Why is OnePay Money Companion asking me for my personal information (SSN, address) to check my credit score?#

OnePay has partnered with TransUnion®, one of the three major consumer credit bureaus, to give you free insights about your credit score. With the OnePay app, you can stay informed and learn what influences your credit score.

If you are new to OnePay and checking your credit score with OnePay Money Companion, OnePay will need your personal information to verify your identity with third-party sources to pull your accurate credit score.

To help validate your identity, you’ll need to provide your full legal name, U.S. physical address, date of birth, Social Security number, mobile phone number, email address, and possibly a copy of your government-issued photo ID or a utility bill. We may need to validate your driver’s license or passport during account sign-up. If we’re unable to verify the information provided, you won’t be able to get insights on your score with OnePay Money Companion. However, you may still sign up for other products at OnePay.
