Where is my Teen or Family section?#

After you add your first teen, a Teen section appears on the Home tab in the OnePay app.

If you have one teen, selecting this section opens your teen's profile.

If you have more than one teen, selecting this section opens your Family hub, where you can switch between teen profiles and access each teen's profile.

What can I control for my teen?#

As the parent or legal guardian, you're the account owner and can:

  • Freeze or unfreeze the card

  • Add spending limits per card transaction

  • Add monthly spending limits

  • Limit ATM withdrawals

  • Limit payments and requests to other OnePay users

  • Restrict the use of a gift link for external payment receipt

  • Add or remove your teen

  • Transfer money to your teen

  • Turn Teen Safety Mode on or off

  • Order or replace your teen's Builder Card

  • Open an Invest account for your teen

    • Enable or disable trading for your teen

    • Set weekly trading limits for your teen

Your teen can manage their day-to-day banking within the limits you set, but they can't change these settings or remove themself as an authorized user on the account.

What is the Family activity feed?#

The Family activity feed is available in the Family hub when you've added more than one teen. It shows activity of the users in your family, including:

  • Transfers between you and your teens

  • Transfers between teens in your family

  • Scheduled allowance payments

Purchases your teen makes on their Builder Card don't appear in the Family activity feed. To view card purchases, open your teen's Activity feed.

How do spending limits work for my teen?#

You can set spending limits to help manage how your teen uses their Builder Card and virtual debit card. You can update these limits at any time from your teen's settings.

You can set the following spending limits:

  • A maximum amount your teen can spend on a single purchase

  • A maximum amount your teen can spend each month

If a purchase exceeds a spending limit, the transaction is declined. Both you and your teen receive a notification explaining why.

Spending limits are turned off by default. If you set both a transaction limit and a monthly spending limit, the transaction limit can't be higher than the monthly spending limit.

How do ATM controls work for my teen?#

You can manage your teen's ATM access from your teen's settings.

You can:

  • Turn ATM withdrawals on or off

  • Set a daily ATM withdrawal limit

If you don't set a daily withdrawal limit, the standard ATM withdrawal limit applies.

What is Teen Safety Mode?#

Teen Safety Mode is a setting that helps prevent purchases at certain types of businesses. You can access it by tapping Spending controls from your teen's settings.

When it's turned on, purchases from the following merchant categories are declined:

  • Alcohol

  • Tobacco

  • Gambling

  • Adult entertainment

  • Bars and nightclubs

Teen Safety Mode uses merchant category codes (MCCs) to block purchases in prohibited categories. Because merchants assign their own category codes, some purchases may not be blocked as expected (e.g., Liquor store classified as "grocery"). If a purchase is declined because Teen Safety Mode is turned on, both you and your teen receive a notification explaining why.

What spending controls can my teen see?#

Your teen can view the following settings:

  • Transaction spending limits

  • Monthly spending limits

  • ATM limits

  • One to One send limits

Your teen can't change these settings.

Who can change my teen's spending controls?#

Only the parent or legal guardian who owns the account can change spending controls for a teen, including spending limits, ATM settings, and Teen Safety Mode.

Your teen can view these settings but can't change them.

What are parental alerts and how do they work?#

Parental alerts help you stay informed about your teen's activity. You'll receive notifications for certain activity.

Possible in-app notifications you'll receive include:

  • Builder Card purchases

  • One-to-One transfers involving your teen

  • Purchases declined because of spending limits

  • Purchases declined because of Teen Safety Mode

  • Purchases declined because of other parental controls

Your teen also receives notifications when one of their transactions is declined.

How do I set up an allowance for my teen?#

You can set up a recurring allowance during onboarding or at any time from your teen's settings.

When you create an allowance, you'll choose:

  • The payment amount

  • A weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly schedule

  • The payment day

  • Source pocket (where you want the allowance to come from)

Each teen can have one recurring allowance.

How do I edit my teen's allowance?#

You can update your teen's allowance at any time from your teen's settings.

You can change:

  • The payment amount

  • The payment schedule

  • The payment date

  • The source pocket

Changes apply to future allowance payments only.

Can I skip an allowance payment?#

You can skip your teen's next scheduled allowance payment without canceling the recurring allowance. Skipping a payment only affects the next scheduled payment. Future payments continue as scheduled.

How do I delete my teen's allowance?#

Deleting an allowance permanently cancels all future scheduled allowance payments.

To delete your teen's allowance:

  • Open the OnePay app.

  • Go to the Teen or Family section.

  • Select your teen.

  • Tap the settings icon in the upper-right corner.

  • Tap Allowance.

  • Tap the toggle next to On.

  • Tap Turn off in the confirmation window.

Where does my teen's allowance come from?#

Allowance payments are automatically transferred from your chosen OnePay pocket as a funding source for your teen's allowance.

How do I view my teen's activity?#

To view your teen's transaction history:

  • Open the OnePay app.

  • Go to the Teen or Family section.

  • Select your teen.

  • Scroll down your teen's profile screen until your teen's most recent activity appears.

  • Tap Show all to see the full transaction history feed.

What activity can I see for my teen?#

Your teen's Activity includes:

  • Builder Card purchases

  • Deposits

  • Transfers

  • ATM withdrawals

  • Savings activities

  • Invest activities, if enabled

How do I manage multiple teens?#

If you've added more than one teen to OnePay, you can manage each teen from the Teen or Family section on the Home tab.

To switch between teens:

  • Open the OnePay app.

  • Go to the Teen or Family section.

  • Select the teen you'd like to manage.

From your teen's profile, you can:

  • View account activity

  • Transfer money

  • Update spending controls

  • Manage ATM settings

  • View rewards

  • Manage your teen's Builder Card

  • Update notification settings

Each teen has their own profile and settings. Changes you make apply only to the selected teen.
