How do I open a Crypto account, and what are the requirements?#
To open a OnePay Crypto account, you first need a OnePay deposit account. Once that’s set up, you can apply for Crypto by:
Opening the OnePay app
Select Crypto from the Home tab
Following the on-screen instructions to apply
Or you can tap here to start your application.
To be eligible, you must:
Be 18 or older
Have an active OnePay deposit account (required for funding trades)
Be a U.S. resident with a valid Social Security Number (SSN) — ITINs are not accepted
Live in a supported U.S. territory
OnePay is required to collect this information to verify your identity and comply with financial regulations.
OnePay Crypto accounts are self-directed individual taxable accounts. Other account types, such as joint accounts, margin trading, or retirement accounts (IRAs), are not supported at this time.
Why do I also need to bank through OnePay to open a Crypto account at OnePay?#
OnePay Crypto operates on a cashless model, which means:
All crypto buy orders are funded from your OnePay deposit account (Checking or Savings balance).
Sale proceeds are automatically deposited into your OnePay Checking balance.
There is no separate cash balance in your Crypto account.
Since all crypto transactions are processed through OnePay, an active OnePay deposit account is required to open and maintain a OnePay Crypto account.
Why was I declined for a OnePay Crypto account?#
OnePay uses third-party data sources to verify your personal information during the application process. If we’re unable to verify the information you provided, your application may be declined.
Other reasons your Crypto account application may be declined include:
Identity verification issues – If we cannot confirm details such as your Social Security Number (SSN) or government-issued ID.
Ineligibility – If you don’t meet the requirements (for example, you’re under 18, you don’t have a valid SSN, or you live in a U.S. territory where Crypto isn’t supported).
Regulatory restrictions – Some accounts may be restricted due to compliance policies.
Why can’t I enroll for OnePay Crypto from my current location?#
OnePay Crypto is available in most U.S. states and territories; however, there are certain locations where both enrolling to crypto and crypto trading are not supported. If your home address on file is in one of these unsupported locations, or if you are physically located in one of these locations, you may not be able to open a OnePay Crypto account or trade with an existing OnePay Crypto account.
Unsupported U.S. territories:
U.S. Virgin Islands
American Samoa
Guam
Northern Mariana Islands
Unsupported non-U.S. locations:
ZeroHash, our crypto partner, maintains a list of international jurisdictions where trading is restricted. You can view the complete list here.
How do I close my Crypto account?#
You can only close your OnePay Crypto account if you no longer hold any cryptocurrency.
If you don’t have any crypto, you can request to close your account by chatting with our Customer Support team or calling our Customer Support team at 1 (855) 830-6200. Once your Crypto account is closed, you will not be able to open another Crypto account with OnePay.
If you still have cryptocurrency in your account, you’ll need to:
Sell all of your crypto holdings in the OnePay app
Once you don’t have any crypto, contact Customer Support to request closure
