Can I keep my current phone number when switching to OnePay Wireless?#
Yes, you can bring your existing phone number with you during setup. This process is called number porting, and OnePay Wireless supports porting from most major carriers.
How do I port my number to OnePay Wireless?#
During setup, you’ll be asked if you want a new number or to keep your existing one. If you choose to keep your number, you’ll enter your phone number, account number, and PIN or password from your current carrier. You may also be required to enter additional information depending on the carrier.
What if my porting PIN or password expired?#
Porting credentials typically expire after a few days. If yours has expired, contact your current carrier and ask them to provide a new PIN or password. Once you have the updated credentials, return to the app and enter them so we can finish porting your number.
Should I cancel my current phone plan before porting my number?#
No. Your number must stay active with your current carrier while the porting request is being processed. Once your number is successfully transferred, your previous carrier may close the account automatically. To be sure your old plan is cancelled, you may contact them directly to confirm.
What if I cancelled my existing plan before porting?#
If you’ve already canceled your old plan, the port can’t complete because your number must remain active to transfer. You’ll need to contact your previous carrier and ask them to reinstate service for that number. Once they’ve reactivated it, return to the OnePay app and start the port request again.
If you’d rather skip this step, you can get a new number instead of transferring, just select “I want a new number” during sign-up in the OnePay app and activate your eSIM right away.
When is my porting request submitted to my current carrier?#
Your request is submitted to your current carrier shortly after you provide your information during setup. We’ll send you a notification once your number has been transferred.
How long does number porting take?#
Number porting usually takes a few hours, but in some cases, it may take up to 2 business days.
My number porting is taking longer than expected. What should I do?#
If your port is delayed, first double-check the app for additional instructions and then confirm your phone number, account number, and transfer PIN are all correct. Also, make sure your device isn’t still locked to your old carrier and that any port-protection services have been disabled. If everything looks good and you’re still waiting, reach out to OnePay Wireless support for help.
What is port protection and how does it affect number porting?#
Port protection is a feature that helps prevent your number from being moved without your permission. If your current carrier has it turned on, you’ll need to disable it before your number can be transferred. This can usually be done through your carrier’s app or their customer support.
What is a device lock?#
A device lock, also called a network or carrier lock, is a restriction your original carrier places on your phone so it only works with their SIM cards. If your phone is locked to another carrier, it will not accept a OnePay Wireless eSIM.
To remove the lock, contact your original carrier and ask them to unlock your device. Once they confirm it is unlocked, you can activate your OnePay Wireless eSIM.
Can I port my number if I’m the account holder on a family plan?#
Yes. If you’re the account holder, you can port your number by entering your account number and transfer PIN during setup. Check with your carrier to see how this will impact the remaining members on your family plan.
Can I port a number that’s part of a family plan if I’m not the account holder?#
If you’re not the account holder, you’ll need to get the porting details from the account owner, including your existing wireless plan’s account number and transfer PIN. Without this information, the request will be rejected.
