Following the instructions in the app to apply
Who can open a OnePay Invest account?#
To open a OnePay Invest account, you must:
Bank through OnePay
Be at least 18 years old
Be a U.S. resident with a Social Security number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
Have a U.S. residential address
During the application, you’ll also be asked to provide financial information and agree to the required account terms and disclosures.
OnePay Invest currently offers self-directed individual investing accounts. Joint accounts, retirement accounts (IRAs), and margin trading aren’t available.
Why do I need a OnePay deposit account to open an Invest account at OnePay?#
All OnePay Invest transactions are processed through your OnePay deposit account. Buy orders are funded directly from your OnePay account (Debit or Savings balance), and money from selling investments and from dividends is automatically deposited into your OnePay Checking balance.
There is no separate cash balance in your OnePay Invest account.
Since all payments for trades and proceeds from selling investments move through your OnePay deposit account, you need to bank through OnePay to open and maintain an Invest account.
Why was I declined an Invest account?#
OnePay uses third-party data sources to verify your personal information during the application process. If we’re unable to verify the information you provided, your application may be declined.
Other reasons your Invest application may be declined include:
Identity verification issues – If we cannot confirm details such as your Social Security Number (SSN) or government-issued ID
Ineligibility – If you don’t meet the requirements (for example, you’re under 18, you don’t have a valid SSN or ITIN, or you don’t have a U.S. residential address)
Regulatory restrictions – Some applications may be declined due to compliance policies.
